Hey, there is a problem with my laptop, (Dell Inspiron 1501). When i start the laptop it appears to be operating because the power button flashes green and you can hear whats going on, but the screen is blank as though it is turned off. I know it is an hardware problem because it wasn't like this before i wanted to clean the fan because of heat related problems. After i fixed that a new problem arised. The monitor is just blank.

Here is the mother board.

I know it is my mistake, i would really apprecieated if anyone can help me. And i know 99% its hardware related, if you guys can give me some help with this i really would apprecieate it.

Please pardon my english.

Try reseating the video cable? If you took it apart to clean it and removed the LCD, make sure that the cable is seated firmly in the connector.

Hello,

I think MrEvil is right on this one. You probably just need to reseat the LCD flex cable.

Also, from your picture it seems you are concern about some other cables.

The black laminated sheet is for the keyboard.

For the blue laminated sheet, I believe that you are referring the palmrest cable, even though it's not in the same place you indicate in the photo.

Here is the link for the actual service manual for the 1505. That will help you back track where you may have gone wrong.

Thanks, Mr. evil and Dell Richard, but which one is the LCD flex cable and when you mean reseating you mean putting it back right?

If you look at the 2nd picture Richard posted. Look just to the right of the orange arrow. the LCD connector is located there. Disconnect it, and then try reconnecting it to make sure you have a good connection. I beleive that might just be your problem.
