Is there any way to do a factory reset/restore on this laptop? I can't seem to find any way to do it.

What operating system do you have (XP or Vista). Did your laptop come with a couple of restore CD's or DVDs

XP, no, restore from CDs I would know how to do, I can find nothing in the manual or on the computer to indicate a factory image restore is even an option. Every other laptop I've ever dealt with had this capability, usually a recovery partition, sometimes recovery CDs. This unit...nothing.

Odd, I was quickly looking thru the operating manual for that model on line and nothing popped out for me either. Normally Toshiba has a section on Recovery in their handouts. Hopefully someone either with that model or another model may be able to shed some light. I would assume that you have checked all the toshiba utilitiy programs that came loaded on it.
I Googled "Recovery disk toshiba satellite M115" and indications are that a "recovery disk" came with the laptop.
If you have had this since new and never got one, I would get hold of Toshiba and let them know. If you got it second hand, try getting hold of the person you bought it from to see where it is.

I have the same model Toshiba and the restore CD's were supposedly shipped with PC. I purchase the CD from Toshiba for $39.95. When I went to recover the corrupted files, it would only allow me to do a full system restore...DARN IT. I am now trying to get XP CD to use recovery console.
