would take a hella beefy video card= lots of heat issues to deal with

then if it breaks thats a lot to deal with

cost to make and cost to repair would be out of this world.....

*Giggles after reading the OP*

Seriously, if you need dual monitors, just use a separate LCD/docking station. Having "mobile" dual-monitors would defeat the concept of mobility.

(And everything soulsaver said)

Huh? Wouldn't any dual monitor card work? I'm using the built in and a VGA at the same time on an ancient ATI 9800...

I think the op was requesting a dual built in screen on a laptop. nothing to do with dual outputs. current mobile video cards can already output to native lcd panels and to a single dvi/hdmi external simultaneously at high resolution. both signals are digital, similar in effect to what one would receive from a dual dvi desktop setup as there is no integrated lcd screen.

but currently there is no market for laptops that offer twice the screen within a constant footprint. maybe the rare 20 inchers would suit op if he absolutely needed more screen on the go.

i know what he was saying

however, to run 2 monitors, this isnt gonna be just run of the mill wire job, it would take 2x's the wires

hence 2x the out/in put of information

so not just any video card could be up for that challange
