Inspiron 1524, power cord and mother board problems

Hello everyone, Im new to the forum. I've ordered a xps m1530 laptop which is now in production. Can't wait to get it. I''ve been doing research on these forums for reccommendations for the laptop I ordered. But anyways last fall I purchased a dell inspiron 1525 for my daughter. About 3 or 4 months ago the power cord stopped working. Called dell and they sent another. Which was good. About 2 weeks ago the laptop wouldn't turn on. Called dell sent it back and they put a new motherboard in it. Well yesterday the power cord stopped working again. Called dell today and they are sending another power cord. My question is does anyone have any idea what would be going on with the cord. Warrany runs out next month. I was wondering what could be causing these cord issues. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Is the machine plugged into a surge protector? Only thing I can think of that's killing the cords is power surges coming in through the outlet.

I don't or I should say she doesn't use one. I actually never thought of that. I guess I never really thought of using one on a laptop. I use one on my desktop. I will purchase one right away. Thanks.

Dell power bricks are absolute crap. I have an Inspiron 9300 and I'm on my 3rd power brick in less than 3yrs. A co-worker has a E1705 and he's had 3 or 4 power bricks as well. To make things worse, the power connector at the back of my laptop is screwed up as well, so it doesn't even recognize when the power brick is plugged it without wiggling it around for a few minutes. I'm trying to find some answers on how to fix it. I don't have an issue with soldering a new connector on the motherboard, I just want to know how to do it without killing my laptop completely lol. Also, if you need a new power brick, you can get them on eBay for like $25 shipped.

The original brick that came with my D820 works fine to this day without issue and it gets used whenever I'm in the car. I have a 2nd brick I keep in my laptop carrier. I haven't had any issues with a DC Jack.

The only suggestions I can say is be more careful when the laptop's plugged in, always make sure there's slack in the cord, and don't wrap the cords tightly around the brick.
