Anyone in here get obsessed with checking their order status online? That is like the best tool they give you. Unfortunately it makes me stare at it all day hitting the refresh button, and then dancing around the room like hit the lottery when the order moves up one phase lol.

<Me calling Alienware>

Rep: Good afternoon Mike.
Me: How did you know it was me?
Rep: You've called like eleven times today.
Me: Oh. Well, I was just checking...
Rep: Its still on schedule Mike...
Me: Oh. Uhh...hmm well then. Good.
Rep: <yelling at someone in the back ground> Put that out!
Me: What was that?
Rep: We just overclocked a desktop too far and set the downstairs on fire. Again.
Me: Again?
Rep: Yep. Happens a couple times per day. Our guys are obsessed with getting another frame per second out of Crysis in 1920 with everything cranked.
Me: That is SO cool.
Rep: Yeah, we've killed more video cards this week then nVidia shipped defects.
Me: Wow. And ouch.
Rep: Anything else today Mike?
Me: I love you guys.

The Dell XPS 1530. How do you like it. They look very sharp. I was either gonna get that or the M15X.

Oh, I need to update my sig- I got that back in Dec as a X-Mas present for MbWife. She absolutely loves it- It's everything she needs and then some.

My personal opinion is that you did the right thing in getting the m15x as they are not comparable to each other.

wow dude, u really went all out with ur m15x! ur definitely going to enjoy it! Welcome to the club!

thats hilarious with the story about the rep lol

Lol, that was a funny convo with the rep!
Nice specs!!!
But you should have waited a bit more, the 9800m series are out for the laptops, and DDR3.
But you shouldn't see much performance with the specs you bought!

lol nice conversion! that's exactly what I do, completely obsessed with getting 1 more FPS is something like crysis and I don't even play that game

at least I'm not starting any fires

I wouldn't sweat the nvidia 9xxxx series GPU's just yet. The 9800m GT is about as good as the 8800m GTX and its impossible to find this level GPU in a 15" notebook. the only one offering the 9800m GT that i know if is sager and that a clevo ewwwwwwww.

Also conceder staying away from first generation notebooks with new GPU's unless you can tolerate a lot of early adopter issues. The m15x is the perfect example of a notebook that when released it had tons of issues (no one ever tried putting a GTX GPU in a 15" notebook before, what’d you expect) and now, almost a year later, it just purrs

My money is on AW being the first to put the 9800m GTX in a 15" notebook, that would be a true upgrade from the m15x. given AW testing requirements i don't expect to see that any time soon.

lol, oh boy ya. with the 4 AW's i've purchased the phase game is just exciting. I alway have my status bookmarked on my PC's at home and work. I also bookmark it on my smartphone. I avarage checking the status once an hour lol!

The Sager looks nice too,
The Sager NP5796 and NP9262 carry the 9800 GTX, and the NP9262 can pe put in SLi with 2 9800 GTX cards.
What issues do they usually have?
That did you mean the m15x was the first to have the 9800m GTX in their laptops? They weren't even the first one to have the 8800m GTX.
I remember they were around the last ones to have it.
How long do you think Alienware will release the 9800m GTX for the m15x's? Is the m15x compatible with the 9800m GTX?
those are 17" notebooks... might as well carry around a desktop, much more powerful and close to the same size.

"most" gamers dont mind a giant 17" notebook, but mainstreem users wont buy anything larger then 15"

AW is the only company in the world that put 17" quality GPU (GTX) in a 15" platform. i've been looking for exactly that for years

Dear Alienware Customer,
It has come to our attention that a significant amount of our bandwith is being hogged by a server making the same order status check every fifteen seconds. We checked the incoming IP, and sourced it back to the Comcast Cable cloud. After a brief conversation, they surrendered the name of the account holder tied to the IP (for the record they caved like women shopping for shoes. They must be French. We've heard about the whole P2P throttling and are plotting an inevibatble ICMP attack of their DNS server. That's how we roll. Anywoo...)

We indexed your name against orders in our status cue, and guess what we found? You. In Phase 7. Well, after reviewing your order, we found a "glitch" and are moving you back to Phase 4. We might be able to "Fast Track" you back to phase 7 should a certain server be taken down immediately.

In summary, we salute you're scripting abilities. We are proud to serve the true geek community but if you keep taking all our bandwidth we can't play World of Warcraft with less then 400ms response.

And we can't have THAT now can we.

Sincerely,

Alex Aguila
