Hard disk replacement is not booting up.

Toshiba P25-S487 XP

The OEM mk60201GAS hdd crashed over the weekend; I replaced it with a Seagate 160GB. Reinstalled the software from the Recovery DVD; everything went OK. Upon initial boot up (after the install) it won't boot up; all I get is the TOSHIBA black screen. XP will not load.

F2 or F12 gets me to the BIOS...
Apparently, the PheonixBIOS is not recognizing the hard drive; and when I scroll down to change the setting (from NONE), the scrolling jumps over "Hard Drive" so that it can't be selected. wtf

My questions are:
a) Is my BIOS corrupted, or
b) is it just not recognizing the hdd because it is a Seagate,
c) or that its 160GB and I need to go down in size to get one compatable in size?

Anybody got any ideas on how to get this minor (LOL) problem solved?

Thanks in advance for any help given...

c) how about another reinstall after partitioning your drive into 2, with one being around 120gb?

Thanks for the help... not too sure how to do that. Do I need special software to partition? I will investigate.
