I know this is an old notebook, but I want to install a new CPu on it. I had the Pentium M 1.86GHz processor on it and I recently bought the 2.13Ghz Model. (533MHz FSB).
Can someone give me any pointers or (one can hope) a photographic how to?
Thanks!

There is a tech support forum here for the 57XX series notebooks.

In that forum there is a link to the service manual for the 5720...

http://www.notebookforums.com/thread190971.html

Go there and download the service manual. It will show you how to disassemble the 5720 down to removing the heat sink. From there you can simply exchange the CPU.

BTW....if you need any parts for your 5720 I have one I'm parting out. I also have an internal second hard drive enclosure for the 5720 if you're interested. It's an ATA enclosure that swaps out with the DVD drive allowing you to have a second internal hard drive instead of an optical drive. I have to price it but I think they're pretty cheap. I can also include a working 120MB drive already mounted.

I also have 2x1GB RAM if you need any.

Thanks for the link. I have the RAM, but now apparently there was a mistake with my processor order so I might not get one after all... What's ur processor?

I just noticed you said 5270.....did you mean 5720?

If so, I'd be willing to sell you parts of my system. I have a 2.0GHz Pentium M, 2x1GB DDR533 RAM, 7800GTX, 80GB 5400rpm internal SATA drive, 120GB 5400rpm, Bay mounting IDE drive, 1920x1200 17" WUXGA screen with no dead pixels, and all the other standard components.
