Does anyone know the max RAM for the Toshiba m50-mx5?

I just wondered if anyone knows the maximum RAM capacity for the m50-mx5 Toshiba Satellite. Also I wondered how I find what is on the computer at the moment?

I do know that the HD has 26.1 gb of used space and 66.8 gb of free space, however I am not tech knowledgeable and don't understand how the 2 ...that is RAM and physical HD space relate?
Thank you

HD space is just that, space for saving documents etc to keep on your computer or installing programs etc. Memory has nothing to do with space just helps your computer work somewhat faster with more memory(RAM).
Go to crucial.com and you can do a scan of your computer telling you how much and what type of memory is on your laptop and what the max amount you can put on it

For RAM, I have 1 slot with 1 gig and one with 512 gig Kingston. The comments from the Crucial site indicated that I may or may not notice the difference if I change the 512 to one gig for a total of 2 gigs.
I spoke to the laptop shop that I rely on and have served me well and the tech said that I likely won't notice any difference b/c of the apps I use and that in his opinion it would simply be wasting money.
I thank you for your prompt reply and also your explanation which was easy to understand.
Thank you once again.

Hi I just thought that I would post and inquire about changing the 512 gig Kingston RAM and replacing it with a 1 gig RAM. I just wanted the experienced opinion of users.
While I realize that the tech at the laptop store said I may notice negligible difference, I wondered what Toshiba users have found.
Again the notebook is the M5-MX50, xpsp2.
I would appreciate comments as I am in a position to replace the 512 RAM now and would like to here from users.
I thank you for your time.

2 GBs , I believe is the max amount, so remove the 512MB and replace it with a 1GB
Check it out at Crucial.com and dont do the scan, use the pull downs and find the applicable manufacturer, model etc.
What type of internet hookup are you on Cable, DSL or dialup??
Make sure you do a system clean ie Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System clean, regularily and also run a spyware utility or two.
Suggest you download SuperAntiSpyware, install it, update it, then run it every weeks or so. Hopefully you already have an up to date anitvirus program because each of these can slow your laptop down.
