New HP

Thread Starter
Hey I bought this HP Laptop from best buy on sale:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...&test_cookie=1

I came here, read the thread on hp laptop that worked horribly for a Chinese brother and I freaked out.

I also saw that, the review of this product is 3/5

while this product

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...gon=&langid=EN

which is almost similar to mine got 5/5 rating.

So laptop savvies, can you tell me any thing you know about these two laptops and something I should worry or smile about. I got 14 days to think about it.

So help needed.

Well the first 3 rating is based on 6 reviews while the 5 rating is only based on 2. That's not a very accurate way to look at it. So my advice would be to take the 14 days to play with it, see if there is anything you don't like about it and then weigh your option of returning it if it doesn't meet your expectations.

A couple of observations? First, these are not "gaming" notebooks, the integrated Intel graphics does well for most stuff, but is certainly not a good choice for gamers. If you are not a gamer, then no problems, BOTH are good, general purpose notebooks, and are fine as priced.

Second, both of these notebooks are essentially the same. The question is do you want, or need an expansion base? Personally, I use my notebook as a semi-desktop replacement, but still have no particular need or use for an expansion base, but some folks do like them!

As far as the reviews? Neither have enough reviews to mean much of anything to me. Besides, many folks who do reviews on Best Buy may not exactly be the most authoritative sources. There is not a notebook out there that is "universally" loved...or hated for that matter. Also, anybody can get the occasional "lemon", so I would not get too jacked up over these reviews...either way.

I have a DV6625US pavillion, which is AMD powered, and it has been absolutely fine for me, but notebook preferrences can be an individual taste, right?

Do keep in mind, theese are both budget-priced notebooks! Good units, but do have a realistic expectation of their capabilities. You are not going to get a $700 notebook, and expect cutting edge abilities, but within their price-point, they are perfectly acceptable machines, IMHO.
