Uh, whoops?

Microsoft this morning (Sep.30 2011) scrambled to release a fix after reports surfaced that its Security Essentials software was mistakenly identifying the Google Chrome browser as password-stealing malware — and removing the competing web browser from Windows machines.

We have already fixed the issue — we released an updated signature (1.113.672.0) at 9:57 am PDT — but approximately 3,000 customers were impacted. Affected customers should manually update Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) with the latest signatures. To do this, simply launch MSE, go to the update tab and click the Update button, and then reinstall Google Chrome. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused our customers.

Google Chrome 14.0.835.187 FINAL ... so Final for Google is not "really" final, it is simply a mark for their developers to start thinking about running out of number in one version, or it is simply .... or ...

- Native Client and Pepper plug-ins will be able to go use First Person controls for games and other applications after they go full screen and lock the mouse cursor. See PPB_MouseLock::LockMouse.

Mac
- Chrome now offers improved battery life on Mac laptops with dual (integrated and discrete) GPUs. Currently the improvement is present on 2011 MacBook Pros running OS X 10.7.1, but will take effect on more machines as OS software updates are released.

Wheeeeeee ... Chrome 15.0.874.120 is the new final stable version

This release resolves some print sizing issues, it fixes the 'certificate is not yet valid' error for server certificates issued by a VeriSign intermediate CA, it packs the latest Flash versions and it kills the following bugs:

- Double free in Theora decoder.
- Out of bounds reads in MKV and Vorbis media handlers.
- Memory corruption regression in VP8 decoding.
- Heap overflow in Vorbis decoder.
- Buffer overflow in shader variable mapping.
- Use-after-free in editing.
- Failure to ask for permission to run applets in JRE7.

The Chrome Stable channel has been updated to 17.0.963.78 on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome Frame. This release fixes issues with Flash games and videos, along with many other security fixes
