I try to get a copy to test drive first, but if it's worth keeping I pay for it - especially software from "independent" developers (ie. shareware or donation-based software). I figure if they've done a good enough job that you want to keep using it you should support them.

For the most part all mine is legit, none of it is used for personal gain though.

Piracy is never going to end in my opinion. in 3rd world country all they do is bootlegs from Clothing to electronics, on a trip i did to the Dominican republic,I seen someting never seen before, Bootleg timberland. it had the tree and everythig but at the bottom it had some other namebrand. i was so suprice at this. well here is where i stand. I would go with about 60% legit (Software I buy and you know, you have to support you people that make Winamp, RealVNC, Mandrake, ect FREESOFTWARE) 30% (From Real copy of software I get from friends) and about 10% (bootlegs I DL or get, Never sell anything I don’t pay for just in case anyone was interested in know). I’m a Linux fan. You need to support your Free software in order to keep them alive. Free is always good.
