Acer Aspire 5100 - cant seem to boot anything

Hi fellow notebook users

I recently received my acer aspire 5102 back from my supplier after having problems with my webcam, dvd player, and some more.

They claim to have fixed that. That would be grand and all, but when I got it back the following happened:

1. They formatted the HD
2. At startup I got the request, which vista setup to start. I chose English, and it started installing. So no, I didnt get any install disks, its all on a hidden partition or something.
3. After comming back to the laptop I got a black screen with the following:

PXE-E61: Media Test Failure, Check Cable
PXE-M0F: EXITING PXE ROM

To be clear, I didnt get a Windows start screen, and I cant seem to get there either.

So I call my supplier. They told me to put my HD first in the boot list(which I already tried obviously). The only thing I get then is a black screen with a blinking _

This was the standard boot order when I got the Notebook back from my supplier.

PCI BEV: Real tek boot agent
Hard disk
IDE 1
IDE 0
USB CDROM
USB HDD
USB FDD
USB KEY

The thing is, I have no idea what to do now. I looked on the web, but all sollutions I could find was to change boot order, and that does nothing. And Acer is notoriously unhelpfull.

The only thing that seems hopefull to me is to find a way to restore everything to factory settings, but I couldnt find how to do that. The standard ALT F11 didnt work.

Does anyone know how to reset an Acer Aspire 5100 to default? Or does anyone have any other suggestion on what to do? I am lost.

Much appreciated.

hey, i had an acer 5102, sent mine back three times with the same problem, and the third time was the charm, cause they lost it and sent me a 5920, which has worked fine for the past half year. goodluck to you
