Hey I have a 2.4ghz macbook I just got about a month ago. Well today i got a black 2.16ghz macbook and i noticed something, it preforms a whole lot faster. the dock and windows arnt choppy and it boots faster piriod. they both have 2 gig ram and 160 gig hdd. As of now I didnt realize that the new macbook had any problems, now i not so sure... Anybody else see this issue?

Can't say I do. Shouldn't be anything choppy about performance, check the activity monitor and see if a process might be taking away to much memory etc. I find that finder when it is scanning volumes or doing a metadata import for spotlight tends to be a problem on occasion on 10.4 but that is all I can think of.

Well I only have 46 processes on the white macbook and same on the black. I reinstalled a retail disc of leopard (the same that has been used on the black) on the white and it helped somewhat but not enough to catch up to performance of black. Think my processors or video card isnt working right?

I think there is something being missed that should be obvious yes.

You say you have 46 processes, but that doesn't answer if any of them are taking up a large amount of CPU, memory, etc. Activity Monitor lets you sort by who is using the largest of each, I would reccomend doing so and seeing if anything is out of the ordinary.

Boot from your install disk while holding, I believe it's the option key or the d key, and it should boot up into the Apple hardware test. Run it with the extended test option selected.
