Dell Inspiron Mini finally released!

Thread Starter
Has anyone pre-ordered one or already has one in their hands? What do you think? It only comes in white and black, but I'm sure they'll release other colors after this first wave.

There was some question whether or not it was even going to happen, but it's out there.

You can get it with Linux or Windows XP and with SSD and memory capacity variations.

I've already owned an Asus EeePC just didn't like the look of it. It was between an Aspire one or the Dell i9 for me. I opted for the Dell yesterday.
Heard the Aspire was cheaply made...(poor quality).

***** Also just ordered a 2gb kingston upgrade & 16gb SDHC card.

I also had my hands on the asus eee pc.
I was impressed with what it could do with such little resources.
the main problem I had was the write speed to the SSD. it was unacceptable, over 90 min to install just word & outlook. I had 1 8gb app I installed and it took all day.

but once installed it ran great.

can't wait to crack at dells version.

I just posted a new thread with some unboxing photos (cell phone, sorry...). I'll get to a review later after I play a while on it.

Anybody know if it's flash reader supports the full speed of a class 6 SDHC? Would be an easy way to upgrade the storage (although not as fast as the SSD in it, still decent). Could drop one of the faster class 6 32g SDHC's in it, and use it for HD space...

(Ordered mine first of last week, hopefully have it soon).

It better support it....
I ordered a 16GB class 6 SDHC and have it already waiting for my Mini9.

I'm sure it'll work in it, I just wonder if the SD reader on it is connected to the PCI buss or the USB one...
Well.. I have a Class 6 8gb SDHC in my Mini and it seems to work fine.. how can I tell if it's utilizing the full speed of it though?
Try a HD speed test tool, check your write/read speed.

U.N., did your order get delayed too? we had the same ship date (today), but mine just got delayed

I just stuffed a 16 gig class 6 card in mine. Works nice and fast too. I'm liking that it was truly 16 gig also! Unlike some SD cards that skimp with the 1024 calculation error to sell less of a memory card

What brand card did you stick in there? I bought a SanDisk Extreme III 16GB (137 shipped, damned expensive). Hopefully it'll be pretty damn fast in mine..

I sure hope the SanDisk is dang fast!

Adata 16Gig Class 6, $31 from newegg:

It by no means as fast as the SSD in the Mini, but plenty fast enough for me.

Out of pure curiosity about when did you guys order your mini?
Mine has once again been delayed, pushing the estimated ship date a month after the order date. Believe it or not, when a vendor does this there are fair trade commission concerns and you have to sign a waver agreeing to the delay…

Dell CS tells me all orders placed after sep 10th are delayed, I ordered on the 13th …

After waiting for 4 alienwares; i have a high tolerance for notebook delays lol

I think the 9/6 i ordered and I think it came around 9/22.
