Well i had this for over 2 months now and i can seem to get them to work at full volume. everytime i hearing my MP3 if i try to put the volume higher then 68% it will start to chop up does anyone know what can i do. i have a Creative live 5.1 sound card.

1.is it because my room is too small
2.can it be that they are 6.1 and i have a 5.1(even if i put it to 5.1 still does the same thing)
3.can it be my card that has a problem.

Im not a sound geek. i hardly know about sound. i was thinking of getting the
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy2 NX. and the 7.1 speaker but i dont want the same thing to happen with the 6.1. i know some of you are going to say u get what u pay for but i was just wondering is someone can break down the sound spec in detail u know barnny style or what my problem maybe. i never called creative regarding this problem but i would like to get soem inside on this thank you.

What you are hearing is possibly clipping. This is a very common distortion for a system as underpowered as the Inspire 6.1.

Here are the specs:
Front / Rear satellites : 8 Watts RMS per speaker
(Measured @ 10% THD @ 1kHz, one channel driven)
Center satellite : 20 Watts RMS
(Measured @ 10% THD @ 1kHz, one channel driven)
Subwoofer : 22 Watts RMS
(Measured @ 10% THD @ 1kHz)

Although the power of the amp is known, sensitivity of the speakers will also need to be known in order to know how loud the speakers can get. Assuming these speakers have average sensitivity, then the front, rear, and subwoofer speakers are very underpowered, which may be why you cannot turn them up too high without distortion. However, 8watts/20watts/24watts are not the true powers of the amplifier. Notice that the THD (total harmonic distortion) at this power level is 10%. That means at this power the sound will be extremely distorted. Normally anything below 1% THD will be acceptable. This means that the power of the amplifier should be much lower at distortion-free volumes. Furthermore, the distortion is measured at 1kHz, one of the easier frequencies to drive. This means that across the entire range of the speaker, say, 80Hz to 20kHz, the distortion will be much higher at this volume. For some reason the subwoofer is also measured at 1kHz. Let's just say a subwoofer is not supposed to produce that frequency. Lastly, the measurements are taken with one speaker driven, whereas the user will use all channels driven at the same time.
Here should be the parameters of the specs of a good system:
xx Watts RMS @0.06%THD 20Hz-20kHz, all channels driven.
Compare the above to the specs used by this system:
xx Watts RMS @10%THD @1kHz, one channel driven.
As you can see, the specs of this system are made so that it would appear to be much more powerful than it really is. For this reason this system could not reach very high volumes without distortion.

what so u suggest. i was looking at the creative website and they dont even have the 6.1 6600 that i ahve and it seem like they discontinued audigy 2 NX also becouse i dont c it on there site either. Well make it easer for me please which speaker should i get from creative resanable price. and by the way how can i extend the speaker cable. thank you for the help.
P.S. please explaing things in plain english super Dummy style if posible lol. I dont know notting abnout speaker and sound. thank you for ur help man. i just dont want to spend 200 + for something that isnt going to work for me. thank you again man.

The Audigy 2 NX is a good card. I have never tried it, but the reviews are generally good. The US Creative site still has it: http://us.creative.com/products/prod...=&product=9103 But it may not be available in other countries.

Since you have bumped into this problem, I can reasonably assume that you want to play music at high volumes. The Inspires are not bad systems, but apparently do not conform to your needs. You may need to spend more money to satisfy your needs. The GigaWorks and MegaWorks systems from Creative are decent, but more expensive. The performance you can expect from these is directly proportional to their price.

I guess I could've explained the specs clearer. I did not know if you know of such things as frequency response, clipping, harmonic distortion, sensitivity, impedence, etc. You don't need to know all of this to understand the problem: basically the amplifier of the Inspire 6600 is not powerful enough to play sound at loud volumes, and when you try to turn up the volume the amplifier begins to produce a lot of distortion. If you'd like to know more about sound and understand these terms, you could subscribe to a good magazine. Or I could try to explain some of these things, such as what harmonics are and how clipping occurs. But there are lots of things I don't know as well.

ok now i c what u mean is there anything like this but a little cheaper. something like about 150. but like u said that would do what i want. and thank you for ur help..
if posible can u Define this terms for me in barnny style.what does the 24 bit do ( im guessing that is the quality of the sound like how much sound u can hear) and 96kHz ( the PCI version of this has 196khz well thank you again

24-bit/96kHz Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for various analog inputs
24-bit/96kHz Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) for up to 7.1 channels output
Supports Sony/Philips Digital Interface (S/PDIF) format input signal of up to 24-bit/96kHz quality
Recording/Playback: up to 24-bit/96kHz*
SoundFont 2.1 Support for Midi playback

I dont know if i blow out my speaker but does anyone know how to troubleshoot speakers my base keeps on kicking in a and out for some reason it was working just fine and one day i came home and when i play music for about the first 15 min of music playing it start to cut off the sub-woofer. it like kicks in and off and then it will say with notting and then be like that till i turn it off and wait some times
