Graphics card cannot be upgraded, I think the max RAM on the 2200 is 2GB

Actually I bleive the 2200 only has one memory socket with 256MB soldered onto the main board. Most you'll get in it is 1.25GB. Also, being the bottom-end model the 2200 only shipped with Intel Graphics. No upgrade possible.

To be honest, unless the manufacturer says they use nVidia's MXM or ATI's similar standardized cards you really won't know. The XPS Generation one had an upgradable GPU in it too, but the upgrade was from the Radeon 9700 to the 9800 and that was it, nothing beyond the 9800 was ever available. And really in all of Dell's other systems the GPU has only been upgradable maybe a half step in terms of generation. For instance, we may not ever see anything better than the 8800 series offered for the XPS 1730.

If you want something you're going to be able to upgrade many times and cover many iterations of hardware, you best just ignore the Laptop segment and stick with desktop PCs.
