Bump. I did not even think of that. I know who this is. Good luck finding it, SM.

I have never scammed dell. I never will. I doubt that he is either.

So now I figur the best way to get a heat sink is to buy a dead card with the heat sink attached. May have found one though.

Wish I could fix them...that would be sweet.
i might be willing to part with the heat sink from my 7900 since the card is dead and im not gonna try to revive the XPS.

Hello
I need to replace my nVidia Geforce 7950GTX 512MB card (for a XPS m1710) and I'm trying to find one online.

I took apart my Dell last night so I could get a look at the card that needs replacing. Just so I know what I am buying is right. Anything I have come across on the net seems to look different.

Has anyone seen these cards for sale online? I presume that the cooling copper wire thingy comes with it? Or no?

Cheers!

Yes, typically the cooling copper thingy (aka dual pipe heatsink) will come with the card. It will look just like your card does now. You need a Dell card, not an MXM card (which will look different). The picture linked in the previous post is probably what you need but I haven't bothered to look.

Here are the official dell numbers for the 7950GTX if you want to try to find them that way:
GU067 = 7950 GTX 512mb
CG041 = 7950 GTX 512mb
CW041 = 7950 GTX 512mb

Got mine replaced a month or so ago. Took 2 days and someone came and installed the new one.

strangely enough, i had the same problem. Dell says they "have" the parts...but there is a severe backlog. They mentioned something about upgrading the laptop, i.e. switching it out for a newer model. This may be a good idea, and wasnt too expensive, but it still sucks. Im curious to the responses as well
