I copied this from another thread I posted in, but I figured this was an appropriate place to put this.
I have a P-7811fx, and I upgraded the CPU to a P9500, as well as put AS5 on it. I also installed a fresh/clean install of my retail copy of Vista Ultimate x64, and am using the 177.92's (and PhysX drivers) from laptopvideo2go. I have an NZXT Cryo LX running full blast and HWMonitor Pro monitoring temps. I believe everything else is the same.
In Company of Heroes, I set it to 1920x1200 in DX9 mode with no antialiasing and Post Processing off, everything else on the highest it can go (Ultra or High, whatever I could set highest).
Here are my results for CoH (averaged from 3 runs each):
Stock GPU Clocks (600/1600/1500)
77.4 ave/229.0 max/17.7 min
Max GPU temp: 69C
Max CPU temp: 45C
Overclocked GPU (750/1900/1750)
90.9 ave/243.5 max/27.4 min
Max GPU temp: 73C
Max CPU temp: 47C
As you can see, the 9800M GTS LOVES to be overclocked! I didn't even TRY to overclock it to the max -- I just used what someone else on another forum used. The temps didn't go up much AT ALL! Yet the results speak for themselves: a ~15% gain in average framerate, and even crazier was the 35% difference in minimum -- all with a ~15% overclock!!! I don't see a reason to undervolt my CPU, since it is running so cool (I'm sure the AS5 and NZXT helps a lot here). I may try to up the clocks someday, but I don't see a need as of now.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: I just benched TrackMania Nations Forever. I ran the benchmark at 1680x1050, started with the "VeryHigh Quality" preset, Antialiasing off and "Force Motion Blur" unchecked. Here's the results (average of 2 runs each):
Stock GPU Clocks (600/1600/1500)
57.3 ave
Overclocked GPU (750/1900/1750)
64.6 ave
Keep in mind the temps get hotter playing the actual game as opposed to just benchmarking, so I didn't include them. That said, here's about a 12% difference in performance with the overclock. I don't have any other games installed that have built-in benchmarks, but I'll run 3DMark06 here really quickly (despite it not being a good "benchmark" IMHO).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE 2: Added 3DMark06 and 3DMarkVantage results. Keep in mind I have 177.92's installed along WITH the PhysX drivers, so my Physics test scores are pretty high.
From 3DMark06:
Stock GPU Clocks (600/1600/1500)

Overclocked GPU (750/1900/1750)

From 3DMarkVantage:
Stock GPU Clocks (600/1600/1500)

Overclocked GPU (750/1900/1750)

As you can see, another 12% gain from the overclock in 3DMark06, and about an 18% gain in 3DMarkVantage! Temps are well within reason and in check.
