The Flash Drive just arrived at my house. I am headed home today to open my unit up. Can't wait. Fingers Crossed.
The 1710 is my flatmates as i wrote in my message . The 1730 is taller because it is sitting on a pacific breeze notebook cooler.

Looks nice.

Still no news over here. Gonna try Xeep's number today I think, maybe see if they'll throw in an extra battery or something.
OK, so Xeep's number is only good for American customers, they still don't know when my laptop is going to ship, and they won't even give me a spare battery or anything for my trouble.

This is now 6 weeks without a working laptop, six weeks as of Wednesday that the order was placed.

I sent in an 'Unresolved Issue' form on their website. We'll see if that goes anywhere...
It was Sp33ds number not mine. I'm from Europe so I called a different number. And yes the patience is the hardest thing if you are waiting for your desired/(already payed for) notebook. :-)
Oops, sorry.

I stand corrected.

EDIT: Thursday now...no news. Getting very, very angry.
My issue is still unresolved I originally contacted dell on August 26, 2008. I tried the number (Thx's Sp33d)but they say it is for US customers are unable to help me with my issue and tell me to contact Canadian support. Here are the spec's that they sent me on my replacement computer.
I have talked to dell tech support and they said that a second battery will be incuded in the order.

Hey Civ that is basically what I have now except for the gpu which I have the 8800m gtx. I must say I am loving my machine except for a few hicups. Too bad that number doesnt apply to Canada. They really got me in touch with a great rep named Joe who kept up with email updates everyday and had it shipped within 3 days of talking. I repeat the only peice holding your notebook up is the WING FLAP. Demand a different color as I did. GL.

Nice conf civicunrest, congrats. Sp33d what hicups?

Such as graphics drivers and power settings. My m1730 would go into sleep mode if I closed the lid when I specifically have it set to do nothng. Odd but I found the problem in advanced settings. Play far cry 2 with sli was horrible at first but I had to config sli settings which took a while. Other wise amazing.
I tried convincing the rep that it was the wing flaps. They wouldn't believe me, even though their own website lists specific colours as backordered. IDIOTS!
And we'll be looking at a 7 week wait at the sound of the beep...

BEEP!

OK, one more call tomorrow evening, then I'm emailing the Dell address listed on the Better Business Bureau site...and if that does nothing, I'm filing a complaint!
Not sure if anybody is still watching this thread or not. But here's an update:

Last week, I filed an Unresolved Issue form on their website. No reply.

Last night, I sent an email to the address the BBB has listed for Dell, which is evidently their Executive Support Team. The auto-reply said that my 'request will be actioned within 24-48 hours'.

It's been 24 hours. Hopefully I hear something tomorrow.
Yeah I am still watching and waiting.
I did talk to dell.ca tech support and talked to the supervisor there and someone somewhere changed the wing flap color so I know now that it is coming.
Mine should be coming by the 9th of November. I used the number that $p33d gave me and they told me what was going on. That is for USA only though they can not do anything cross boarder.
They won't tell you what is going on either that is the other thing I learned. You pretty much have to call them. I do get emails when there are delays in the shipping but not about changes.
I'm still watching as well. Can you get me back up to speed: are you waiting for a replacement 1730?
I recently had the screen go south on my 1710 it took me over two hours and three phone calls with an additional two week wait time but, I was persistent and I finally got my screen replaced under the "next day business" support. Hang in there and like others have said you have to be persistent!
I'm waiting for a 1730 to replace my 1710.

I've been calling them for weeks now, but all the agents will ever say is 'it's been delayed, we don't know why, there's nothing we can do'.

If I start saying things like 'According to your website, it's the panel colour that's delaying it' or 'This is unacceptable, I need this laptop shipped out now', all I get is dead silence or 'Sorry, I can't do anything.'. USELESS!

The reason why I'm going through email now is because the address I'm using is listed on the Better Business Bureau website as the Dell Canadian Executive Support team. It's basically my last option before filing a BBB complaint. They've got another (checks watch) 9.5 hours to meet their 24-48 hour turnaround time on the email, then it's BBB time.
Hi,sorry to hear that you still don't got your replacement. I would try to call them one more time, but this time, right at the start explain your situation to the rep and ask for his/her manager. When you got him/her to the phone ,explain one more time the situation and ask his/ her manager to the phone, explain the situation again. all the time be politelly angry ,ask for a replacement that you want to be shipped in 24 h. And tell them that you don't want to hear any sorrys any delaying, and if it's needed you will escalate this complaint to Michael Dell himself.
I'm finished with tech support, they've been completely useless.

No, I was actually going to file a Better Business Bureau complaint when I saw that their profile for Dell had this executive support team email address. In reading other forums, it seems that anytime that team's gotten involved, problems are quickly solved.

Unfortunately, it's been 48 hours and they haven't contacted me as promised by their auto-reply. I sent in a second request today asking for a status update, following instructions given in the auto-reply message.

Honestly, I don't understand why both my unresolved issue request AND my executive support team request are BOTH apparently being ignored...

There is the email address of an actual person listed in the reply as well, for 'emergencies involving executive escalations'. I'll try that if I haven't heard anything back by Monday.
