Broken DVD Burner...

Lately my DVD drive has been burning disks riddled with errors, and now it wont read anything, disks just show up as empty.

I've got a 1705 with the TSSTCorp TS-L532B, my warranty's expired so it looks like I'm going to have to shell out the cash.

Where's the best place to get replacement dell parts?

Which is the best (most reliable) DVD Burner for the 1705?

Thanks.

You don't have to get a Dell-specific part. The 1705 takes standard slim laptop drives. I think I heard that Philips and Panasonic were good. Stay away from Sony; I had one in mine, and it was terrible.

Took your advice and got anything slim. The new drive works fine, but is kind of small. It's recessed about 3-4mm, and there's a 2mm gap around it.
