Open GL comes early with Cat 8.9, as well as Overdrive support for quad CrossfireX configurations:

AMD's latest Catalyst graphics drivers are now available. The September 2008 (or 8.9) release doesn't break a whole lot of new ground, but it introduces a couple of changes, early OpenGL 3.0 support, and the usual round of bug fixes.

With the Catalyst 8.9 drivers for Windows, users of four-way CrossFire X configs can now overclock their GPUs through Overdrive software. AMD has also added support for custom 50Hz 1080p display modes in Radeons from the X1000 series upward, which should let folks "configure their own custom 1080p @ 50Hz modes to best fit their display." OpenGL 3.0 support is limited to 10 extensions right now, but AMD vows it will "continue to expand support."
