Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth Module

Thread Starter
I own an Inspiron XPS, but neglected to purchase the 'Dell TrueMobile 300 Bluetooth Module' at the time of the original order. Now I would like to puchase the module and install it in my XPS.

I've tried to order the part, but I had trouble. The first person I spoke to at Dell sales said I could not purchase it. However, as I remembered, the sales person who sold me the XPS told me, at the time of the purchase, I could always order in the future and install it. Since he stated that, I called him and ordered the following "310-4217 TM300 BLUETOOTH CF,PPC2K3". The sales person checked with support to confirm it would work. It sounds like a Compact Flash card. I did not suggest this part. I don't believe that I've ordered the correct item.

Question: How do I order the correct part? I'm looking for a specific part number and avenue for purchasing the part.

Thanks for all the help.

BTW, I'm really enjoying my XPS.

No that is not correct .. That is the Bluetooth Compact FLash card used in the Dell Axim X5 PDA .. If you have a compact flash to PCMCIA adapter you can use it in your laptop but its not really the option you want .. You want the internal one ..

Here are the part numbers I have .. It might help you out if you tell Dell spare parts these numbers .. They seem to be more willing to sell things if you have the numbers as it gives them the impression you know what your talking about so there is less chance of them sending you something you don't want ..

I got these off my 8600 order form which I got the bluetooth when I ordered it.
Part # 2U381 Card (Circuit), Wireless, Internal, Bluetooth
Part # 5X617 Assembly, Cable, Bluetooth, LIKA

Thank you for the help.
Do you think you could find the line item(s) for the bluetooth on your XPS order too?

They are the same part .. I didn't order one for my XPS .. I took the one out of my 8600 and out in my XPS so I know the bluetooth module is the same for both laptops ..

I purchased my card from this seller on eBay. It works perfectly with my 9100 and takes 5 minutes to install.

Thanks. I've just ordered the same part from the same seller via eBay.

I can't find these parts on Dell's site? Anyone know how to order this stuff online? The 9100 and XPS aren't even in their list of Inspiron's when you choose by name and model?

It may be possible to get the part number that you are looking for from Dell's Tech Support. I've experienced the same trouble in looking up parts for my XPS. I've mentioned the trouble I've had with doing this to Tech Support. It may help if others do the same.

Here are tha part numbers I have that Dell shows was shipped with my 8600 according to the website.

This is the module you need:
1 2U381 Card (Circuit), Wireless, Internal, Bluetooth

You need this cable if you have the 8500/8600/D800:
1 5X617 Assembly, Cable, Bluetooth, LIKA

You won't find this on Dells website. The only way to order it if not in the system when purchased is to call Dell Spare Parts and order it over the phone.
