ASUS Laptops with Vista 64bit?

Thread Starter
I recently got an ASUS M50vm-x1 and even though it comes with 4GB of ram its only a 32bit OS. Now I have been looking at the ASUS support site and cannot find any drivers for 64Bit Vista. I am curious if anyone has put 64bit Vista on there ASUS and what kind of support they have received if any after making the swith?

For starters, whats worked and what hasnt?

You can always go to the web site for each part and get 64bit drivers from there. Intel.com for chipset drivers, Nvidia.com for video, Realtek (?) for the sound (if it is realtek), etc, etc.

I cant find the drivers for anything but the video card. I am going to start digging soon but was wondering how ASUS treats 64bit OS's as a whole.

They're slowly adjusting, it seems. The new G series notebooks have 64-bit OS on them.

I was also told that there are both 32-bit and 64-bit drivers on their driver CDs for recent models, but as I don't have a recent model, I can't say that for sure.

You also might want to ask Ken from GenTechPC about it. He offers 64-bit Vista as an OS option for Asus notebooks, so he must know how to find the drivers.

It will come fully operational and should have a restore DVD with the OS and a drivers CD/DVD as well.
