Connect desktop via HDMI to 720P hdtv question

Hi,
If I connect a desktop to a 720P HDTV via HDMI can I have it upconvert the display to 1920X1080 ?

Nope, no matter what a screen with 1300x700ish pixels will never be able to displace @ 1080p no matter how hard you try.

ok, so what resolution will it display at, the 1280 x 720 or 1366 x768 ?

It depends on the monitor, but I know for example my Samsung LN-T 26" model displays at 1366x768

Some of the LCD's however have a "PC mode" where it lowers the resolution to 1280x720 which isn't the best solution. When you hook the TV up, also try to make sure that it's in a "dot by dot" mode or something similar to that, no stretch, super stretch, or zoom modes =)
