The integrated webcam USED to have a different applet that would load to adjust exposure settings, etc... now it seems to use a generic MS driver. Alienware tech support says there ARE no drivers, that it IS suppose to use the generic from Microsoft.
Problem is, the exposure sucks. It auto detects like crap, either I'm washed out OR in a field of darkness, and light placement seems to have little effect, since it seems to want to bounce back and forth.
I DID Have the ability to turn off exposure before and ADJUST it, and get good frame rates, now it's all greyed out.
I've uninstalled the driver, let it reinstall. Removed cyberlink youcam (crap software), tried it,,, reinstalled, tried it.. etc..
Running Vista SP1 Ultimate (upgraded for the atrocity that is the HOME Version), everything runs fine, but the webcam (since the upgrade).
I'm interested if anyone has suggestions or solutions, maybe a registry entry to force exposure to be enable for toggling. Hell, I'd even take WHO manufactured the webcam at this point to help my research.
poor guy on the phone, I think I killed him being too technical. Any help would be outstanding, thanks in advance!
