what is the make and model laptop? My initial thought is its a bad GPU whether it on the mainboard or a removable card aside. With it being used you never know the condition. Also this is a used board but its the correct part for your machine right? not a mod or anything?

how do u mean restting it?

i have taken the lcd plug out and back a few times, but the problem is on both screens in and out.

the cable to the mainboard to the lcd. try unplugging it and plugging it back in. may help, but if external is bad as well unlikely to fix it.

could also be bad memory, may want to run a memtest especially if it uses shared memory.

however, it may be a bad board.
