Lenovo ThinkPad SL-series questions

Thread Starter
Hi,

Does anyone have any experience with the thinkpad SL-series laptops? I am thinking between the SL300 and SL400 at the moment, havent quite found any other brands besides Lenovo ThinkPad that I like. I know these models arent quite whats expected of a genuine ThinkPad, but theyre close enough for my use and compared to other thinkpads, theyre really affordable.

These models being sold here are pretty much identical (except for the obvious screen display size of 13,3" vs. 14,1"). Theyre both powered with the Intel Core 2 Duo /5670 (@1.8GHz), 2GB of ram etc, they also include HDMI which is ince. My main concern is the GPU which is an integrated intel chip X4500. I dont play games, but it would be important to be able to run atleast 720p x264 encoded material, preferably up to 1080p too.

Any input is welcome, I hope to make my decision today or tomorrow :-)

Video decoding is still a predominantly 2D task. the Intel integrated graphics will have no issue with video playback. In all reality the only place where nVidia or ATI graphics really benefits you is in the games or 3D apps department.

However, if you're looking for somthing with a little more graphical oomph you can get the SL400 with a GeForce 9300 (if you customize it at Lenovo's website)
