Help with USB Audio for Speakers!

Hey guys... So I have this problem with plugging in audio using a USB converter.

So my main priority is to use some speakers I just bought with the USB (b/c the audio/mic inserts are in the front of the laptop which is annoying). It didn't come with a audio to USB converter, so I happened to find an audio to USB converter I had from some headphones I bought a while ago.

The problem with this converter and my laptop is that even though my laptop recognizes that some form of audio is plugged into it, nothing will play out of the speakers! (I even tried it with the headphones that the audio to USB converter was meant for and it didn't work).

I go into the "playback devices" and there is the USB connection (it says "headphones"). I've tried setting it as the default, but that does nothing. I've even tried disabling the main speakers on my laptop, but that still didn't do a thing.

Surely there's some setting that can make this audio to USB converter work?? Any help?????

Thanks

Vista 64-Bit completely up to date. Not sure what you mean by USB audio model.

Audio to USB converter: you plug in the audio/headphones/stereo jack (single prong) into this converter, which transfers it over to a USB.

This isn't what I have, but it resembles it. Audio to USB converter:

Any suggestions??

i see. the device, from the amazon site, is a jack adapter alllowing users to use their current 3.5 stereo headset. I dont think that would apply to laptop. What you need for latop usage is an usb sound digital sound card, that allows you to plug in your headset. Something like this

Great, thanks a ton. Hopefully that'll help.

So all I have to do is plug it in and it'll be the same thing as if I were plugging it into the normal headphone jack in the front right? Or would I have to change some other settings?

Just normal plugging in your earset jack. The usb sound card will be recognised as a 2nd sound/audio device on your laptop. You can set it as primary.
