Bought this laptop on 08/30/08...
Initial Impressions...
The Blue on Black looks very nice, and the palm rest will not show grime, as bad as the previously offered silver... The Inspiron 13, as it's know, is basically an XPS M1310 in disguise... The overall look and feel of this computer is very good... The keyboard is very responsive, the screen came with NO dead or stuck pixels, and the Creative webcam is better than the one I was previously using...
First Order of Business...
I upgraded the CPU to an Intel T93000 (not offered as an option on this model, but it is on the XPS...) I also applied AS5 before replacing the heatsink... The install was easy using the online service manual via the support website...
I also added 4GB of G. Skill CAS 4 RAM, a Samsung Spinpoint M6 500GB HDD, and a Dell 1505 wirelss N... Again these were all VERY easy to access...
Next order of business
I installed a slot load Optiarc AD-7633A Labelflash ODD, as well as a Dell 355 internal bluetooth module (no cable needed)... I would not recommend doing these steps unless you have taken apart a laptop before, but it can be done as long as you follow the steps on the support website... I also purchased the Audiology HD software, which does in fact work on this model, in case anyone was wondering...
Overall Impressions...
This computer offered a good $$$ to version value, at least for me... And hopefully this review will allow you the consumer, another bit of knowledge before making your puchase...
