Wanted: DELL Inspiron 6000 keyboard key

Hey guys,

My 'B' key's tab broke off and now I am stuck with an empty space. I was wondering if any of you guys have any advice on getting this replaced. How hard is it to change the whole keyboard?
Thanks guys.

The entire keyboard is easier to change than trying to first FIND and then replacing an individual key.

Using a flat bladed screwdriver (or preferably some sort of plastic stick with a flat end) pry up the hinge cover from the right side.

Once the hinge cover is off, remove the two keyboard screws, pull up the keyboard (it snaps in place) and disconnect the cable.

lather, rinse, repeat.

MrEvil,

Thanks for the info. Do you know if it is worth it to shell out the extra cash for an OEM keyboard? How much of a decrease in quality is there in a non-OEM keyboard for laptops?

THanks again guys.

uh, you have to go with OEM, I'm not aware of any third party keyboards available.

Here are the actual instructions for replacing your keyboard, you won't be able to remove your keyboard by following the instructions above:

I probably would have sent you a key, but I assume you've replaced the keyboard by now.

Should be pretty cheap to find on ebay, OEM unused (or at least that look unused).
