I'm using an Inspiron 1420 with a Nvidia 8400m GS with S-Video out. I'm having issues trying to connect to my TV. When I connect the S-Video to composite cable to the TV and set the TV to the proper input channel, my computer doesn't see it. My friend uses an Acer with Intel 3100 graphics and connects just fine to the TV, but I'm not having any luck. The cord I'm using is 4-pin S-Video (7-pin out-port, but that's the same as my friend's computer) to composite - aka A/V Video. The TV is less than a month old, but it's a conventional TV and could be a really old model - it's a Skyworth 29T66AA (Chinese brand - I'm currently an expat). I know the composite connectors on the TV work, but I'm trying to avoid the necessity of buying a DVD player here - I've had bad luck with them here in the past and I have no real interest in wasting my money on a DVD player that only plays 1 in 5 discs, and that one in black and white, when I should be able to use my computer for the same purpose.
So, any ideas on how to make my computer recognize that it's connected to a TV?
