Vista to XP downgrade on Satellite A215-S7437

Hello. I read through thread a215-s4757- vista to xp...need drivers! and have downloaded the drivers for the XP installation.

I have purchased a full version of XP w/ SP2 and am ready to install it, but was wondering what the best procedure would be. I was thinking that I would completely wipe the drive and reformat it, then do a new clean install.

I do have my Recovery CD should I have any problems so I could restore it if necessary. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Leslie

You could also look at dual booting, which would give you an operational OS while ensuring that you get everything for XP to make the laptop work right.

Can I add a partition to my hard drive as it is right now and then install XP on that partition with out having wipe it out?

Thank you so much! I printed the article and will attempt to do this either tonight or tomorrow. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.

I read the article on adding a partition, unfortunately I do not have any unallocated space on my drive. So now what do I do?

Sorry about that. No such thing as a stupid question. I was looking for a better article as I have not personally done this but see it recommended all the time because people tend to jump with downgrading and end up with a laptop with some functions that dont work.
Take a look at this because it explains allocting space for the new operating system and how to do it.

Thank you. I will check it out. I have made the mistake of jumping to fast on my computer adjustments and have wound up with a mess, so I prefer not to do it with this. I like to think that I learn from my mistakes.

I'll keep you posted. And thanks again!
