Dell Studio 1735 Vista OUT XP IN

Keep getting the blue screen of death when setup finishes from cd on a brand new Studio 1735.
I searched and found some people having similar problems, Whats my first step. My computer knowledge is decent but falls short sometimes.

Bios settings need to be changed 1st step?

I think you should change AHCI to ATA because Windows XP does not recognize SATA hard drive in Studio 17.

Do it in BIOS.

Yeah, if you want to install XP without preloading an AHCI driver, you'll have to switch the SATA operation from AHCI to ATA. HOWEVER, if you have another OS that was installed with AHCI enabled it will no longer boot when you set the system to ATA mode.
