HP Dv5-1002nr running like a 80yr old amputee

Thread Starter
I just got my HP dv5-1002nr in late August for starting my freshman year of college. It ran alright not amazing but worth $600. Over the course of my first two months with this laptop I've experienced many problems.

One thing that's happened is that the little light to tell me if its muted is always on. I don't care really, its the least of my problems.

Second thing every once in a while CPU usage will go to 100% when running my Zune software or Firefox. It gets really annoying, but restarting the program normally does the trick.

Lastly I've been trying to play some old games on Game Tap, but low and behold this hunk of dick can't even run a game from 1996. The colors go apeshit and the program skips every couple of seconds.

Each of these things have been incremental and not bothersome really, but when they all happen at once it makes me very angry.

. browser, at which sites causing the cpu spike?
. same thing with ZUNE ...
. how much ram do you have now?
. ...

first thing I would do is create your restoration cd's. Then I would format the system and reinstall everything.

Once the recovery is complete, go into the control panel and remove the programs that are factory installed that you will never use and also the demo programs that you will never use.

You are running Vista I am assuming? That OS is a memory hog
