Don't buy Spartan Laptop

One of my customer brought back their laptop I sold, Spartan SQS151, when you close the lid backlight starting to flashing, sometimes goes away completely under normal use. I told them possibly backlight is about to die, I have to send it back to spartan, which they usually don't return it less then a month and customer knows about it, since we had to send it back before and waited 2 months. As a small town computer company you can guess how that feels. Customer was about to kill me. Anyway, we bought a accidental damage warranty and everything, so unit is under warranty. Month later Spartan sent it back, I was testing it, I close the lid to see if its fixed, computer didn't do anything, didn't go to standby. So I investigated it, appearently they removed the little pin that pushes inside when you close the lid. So I called to ask how can I find that pin and how can I put it back, they said that I don't need to close the lid to put computer to sleep. All I have to do is hit FN+F2. I had to remind them that we are a reseller and a computer company too, I didn't wait 1 month to learn how to put laptop in a sleep. I wanted to close the lid and see the PC wnet sleep. They said that they had to remove that piece the manifactueer doesn't use that feature anymore, if I'd ordered the same laptop today, it would come without that close the lid feauture.
How can you not go Crazy after this.? So I told them if they can't fix this one they should have replace it with another one and how am I going to explain this to my customer? They said they can't do anything about it. No matter if I have all kind of warranty or what. So. Just to let you know, it may be my luck that the MOBO they used at the past sucked bad where they have to send it back to MARS to get it fixed. (there are cases I had to wait 3 months, I ended up buying a new Laptop to customer and give the Spartan laptop to my ex-wife.)
So don't buy Spartan Laptop. go with big brands where they don't have to send the laptop elsewhere to get it fixed.

Don't buy Spartan

www.spartanco.com
A friend of mine talked me into buying a Spartan. He was a distributor and told me how great they are and how NASA and Universities use them. I trusted my friend, who I don't talk to anymore.

I had to return my unit for warranty. They mailed back my unit without giving me a tracking number or date that it would be delivered. When I questioned delivery, I got a "My bad, I apologize it was delivered 2 weeks ago by FedEx."

FedEx did not require a signature. They left it on the doorstep of a business that I live on top of in the rental apartment. This business is also behind the highschool.

FedEx or Spartan do not want to take responsibility for my lost unit. The police department told me that because I did not receive the unit it was up to one of these companies to the file report .
Spartan said they would deliver me a new one at 50% off.
I paid $1700! I got ripped off! Stay away from this small company.

If you still have the document showing that the unit was in their hands - signed when you returned it - then in principle, they still owe you. It is up to them to make good on the unit return. Push it! It is their responsibility to go after FedEX. You just need to go after Spartan.

cheers ...
