Vista Home Premium Domain?

Hello guys/girls, I got Vista Home Premium for my tablet and wiped XP Tablet PC Edition and installed it. Once I was in Vista, I realized that I couldn't join a domain. I read on the internet that if I downgrade back to XP and join the domain there, I can just log into XP and perform the Vista install from XP (in other words an upgrade) and my domain settings would be saved. Is this true?
