Looks like Asustek may have learned something from their early socket 775 fumbles:
|Asustek's P45-based motherboards occupy an 80% share of worldwide shipments, according to sources at the company.
The company's motherboard shipments in the third quarter are estimated at 6.12 million units, a growth of 20% and higher than original expectations of 15%. In the fourth quarter, hopes are high that next generation X58-based motherboards will continue to drive company sales.
However, sources at channel vendors pointed out that since Asustek only shipped 17.22 million units in the first three quarters of this year, the company would need to ship 6.78 million units in the fourth quarter in order to reach its target of 24 million for 2008, a difficult task.
