Toshiba Satelite A300/Y00 fails to wake up after going into sleep mode

I've realised its impossible to wake up my new A300. If I so much as close the lid, the computer goes into a hanged sleep mode where it will refuse to wake up. I can move the mouse or press all the FN buttons but it won't wake up. So i have to resort to pressing the already lit power button to get my screen back and it restarts - and I lose all my unsaved data.

Why is this? Its a new laptop yet my ancient sony and acer laptops can wake up and function just fine.

I've currently disabled the sleep option, until I find a method to wake it up.

Any help? Has anyone else experianced a similar problem?

. Any external USB device connected to the comp at sleep mode?

no external USB devices are connected, also when the blank screen saver comes on i can get rid of it easily by moving my mouse, but I can't seem to figure out a way of having the laptop resume after it goes to sleep.

If I can't figure it out its alright, i've disabled sleep mode on the laptop.

check if you have set the hard drive to become "inactive" (sleep)
