is the Asus Z9 any good?

Thread Starter
I've been looking at the new Asus Z9 notebook, and this ones seems to be pretty good feature/price wise.

Here are the specs.

centrino 1.4
40 gigs
512 mb
cdrw/dvd
ATI 9100 IGP up to 120 mb shared
4 in 1 card reader
15' tft XGA
and the stardard stuff like usb 2.0, ir port, s video and wireless b lan

All this for $1578 Canadian dollars without tax.
The shared video is the bad thing, but im not a heavy gamer anyways.

Do you know where i could find a review on this model?

the shared video is going to be pretty good if you max out the ram, which you're not. If you get 512mb of ram, you'll only be using 64mb of the 128mb video........ it's just how it works.... So then you're taking 64mb of ram away from system use.

my rep at proportable said the z9 is for someone who wants it all but can't afford it. he said the not so obvious specs that he does not like are:

-XGA screen res
-128mb shared ATI video.... and it's the 9100

Other than that it's heavier than the M6, but does have an aluminum shell.....

Basically, it's a nice machine quality wise, but if you have the money try to bump up..
