I'm in that boat with you. I'll be buying once I see what Dothan prices are and what they do to the Banias if they're too expensive.

my g556e is dothan ready so yea whatever

it already has the 9700

FYI, the Sager 3760 is the Clevo M375E. The older Sager 3750 is the Clevo M375C. The M375E is the model with M10, while the M375C is the model with integrated graphics.

Oh, and the Battelion E series is right under your eye! It is the AOpen 1557G.
The S series is the Uniwill N258SA.

G556E

Battery Life 3+ hours on normal usage

Clevo375C

Battery Life 4+ hours on normal usage

Compal CL56 (this one I am very sure about)

Battery Life 4-5 hours on normal usage

Asus M6N (this one I am very sure about)

Battery Life 4.5 - 5.5 hours on normal usage

I think someone asked for battery life to be posted also. So Titan you should throw those numbers in there somewhere.

Alrighty. Thanks you deltawalkerl and Thrillryder23. We now have estimated battery life and the AOpen 1557G.

Cool This is great. Thanks for everyone that is helping out. thanks Thrillryder23 for the battery life info
post #29 of 145
this compilation could probably go one step further w/ detailed reviews or specs from reviews like benchmarks etc

i'll do a detailed review on the compal 56 once i get it

Yes, Rince. Please do. I'm very interested in buying that Chembook as well, but I'm waiting until Dothan comes out. Maybe with some luck the 1.7 Dothan system will cost as much as the 1.6 system. At least that's going by the list price on the proc.

Also, if you could let me know how ibuypower.com worked for you, I'd appreciate it as well. They seem to have a good price and 5% rebate going on.

Super

G556e?

The Compal CL56 is also being used by Falcon Northwest.

guitarded,

You said that you have the G556e?I have an M:460 which is a G556x. I’m not sure on the exact number. I really must ask you a question; How loud is the fan? On mine, when doing anything CPU/GPU intensive the fan gets quite loud. Loud enough that I am in search of a solution.

Thank you for the info,
Aquaflight

i dont have it yet, getting it tuesday will let u know then

i know the fan is loud but god, i wouldnt sell it because of it...well maybe if i paid $3500 like u did O_O (no offense)

Thank you. I am indeed interested in hearing your opinions of the G556e. In case you are interested I wrote an article giving information on how to underclock your CPU to lower overall heat output, in turn, reducing fan noise. I am still in search of a solution, and when I do, I will be posting the results in this thread on the Voodoo forums.

Ps: I actually paid about $4,100.00 USD for this piece of machinery

i really don't understand why people are willing to pay for a falcon or a voodoo when they can get THE EXACT SAME MACHINE for a grand cheaper.. frustrating.
If you got the money then why not?

It's like saying I love that watch but it is $500 and then you see the knock off version somewhere else for $100. Wouldn't you rather buy the real one knowing you own the real version of it. Not exactly the same with laptops but its not a bad analogy.
You should also take in to account that Voodoo was the only computer manufacturer (in my mind) sufficiently reputable offering the G556 at the time. All in all, even though it could be substantially better, I am pleased with my M:460.

when buying voodoo u pay for the name, the pride of ownership, the paint job, the community, and the great customer service

if i had the money id buy a voodoo

aqua- yea man i feel your pain, it seems like you really have had a chore on your hands with that laptop, i read your posts on voodoo forums

since yours has the 9600 gpu and mine has the 9700...i am assuming it has a different power consumption because of the different motherboard that was swapped along with the gpu (correct me if im wrong someone), so maybe some problems were fixed, or maybe they got worse i dont know i will have to find out in a few days. maybe there is a new fan as well, along with a fix on the wavy grill (i still dont know what that means or how bad it is).

when i get my g556e, if it runs perfectly or with less problems or even a quiet fan, then maybe you have hope in voodoo re-releasing the m460 as the m470, and it will have the fixes you desire...maybe they will upgrade/replace it with the m470 for free. or u can sell ur m460 for $1700 and buy what i bought

or of course mine will suck completely ass and will be an equal nightmare as yours

Actually it really isn't that frustrating. Falcon, voodoo, and other boutiques target specialized groups. They want the best hardware available, but they also want it to look just as nice as it performs. Aesthetics appeals to the majority of people in many cases. I don't think there is anything wrong with people buying from faclon or voodoo, if you can afford it.

nothing wrong with it.. although i wonder how many of the people realize they can get teh same machine without the automotive paint job substantially cheaper..

i am not trying to bash the owners.. i realize also that voodoo was first out with machines.. i personally can't justify it though, and yah, i have the money, i just don't see spending it on a paintjob. Again, I am not trying to bash the owners.. i just get tempted to go over to their forums and point people to this thread.

and i bet 50% of them already know of it
