Trying to eek out as much battery as possible and wondering which uses more power. Anyone?

Hard to say. It is depending on the model, personal preference. I used both, currently more with bt, but dont notice any differences. Also battery types can give one the "feeling" that they last longer (or shorter)

USB mouse will draw more power than BT mouse.

I think that you need to reask question. Better understand what is more comfortable not more powerful thing

The difference is negligible. Other parts of your system are sucking in so much power compared to the BT mouse or wireless mouse that it makes a very small difference I'm sure.
