Hi guys

Ok ... this confused me like hell

I got a score of about 4800 in 3dmark06 using dell stock drivers
while NBF mobileforce driver only gave me 4600 (175.16)

I know its only a mere 200 ... but why ?

Is NBF mobileforce one of those driver where theres only a little performance drop but gain a huge quality ?

My spec: XPS m1530
2.5ghz Core 2 duo
4gb ram
8600m GT GDDR3
vista 32bit

3DMark has always been a horrible benchmarking tool for seeing how well the modified drivers are. It should only be used to A.) Show how big/small your e-peen is, B.) Make sure there isn't something horrible with your system (artifact testing, etc), and C.) Compare to others with the same setup so that you know if you are getting scores within an acceptable range.

Go test some REAL games, and report back. You don't play 3DMark, do you? In years testing and using modified drivers since the Omega days, Xtreme-G days, and now TweakForce/MobileForce days, the general difference I see between stock tends to be: sharper textures, better/more lively color, better (sometimes more intense) lighting/bloom, better/more noticeable bump mapping, performance that varies by driver release from slightly worse to a noticeably better (USUALLY a very small increase more often than not), and a "smoother" framerate.

I'm not saying that they'll make all your games look like Crysis, but if you are looking, you'll notice a difference all around. Everything DOES tend to look better overall, and that's why I use them, because I am a quality man myself. The added performance that sometimes comes with it is just a bonus IMHO.

i respectfully disagree

I have tried gaming on NBF driver for few days on different games (bioshock, fable, portal)

I get stuttering on all of those games. Yes i do notice a better pictures overall ... and also the way the graphics are revealed are much more natural. But ... the stuttering is too annoying.

Sorry ... but would love to see NBF driver improving in the future

I can see the potential

Did you uninstall the previous drivers correctly before installing the new ones? This includes using Driver Cleaner or Driver Sweeper.

Also, what I am using is XG-177.92's, and I find them much better than these. Check them out here.

Wow ... the temperature in your benchmark with the XG-177.92 doesnt seem right ...

but yea, i might try it out some other time (Need to take a break, i have already tried ... prolly 10 or so different drivers)

PS. Yea i did uninstall properly. I uninstall as usual in add/remove program then I use driver cleaner.net in safe mode to clear out the remaining junk.

Cheers
