I want to max out the ram on my notebook to 4GB, but I've got a question regarding ram timings.
I assume that SONY, along with most of the other OEMs ship their notebooks with PC5300 ram thats set at the somewhat relaxed 5.5.5.15.
Would I run into any issues if I bought after-market ram that ran at 4.4.4.12 as opposed to the more relaxed timing?
4GB of CAS4 ram costs about $20 more than 4GB of CAS5 ram, so the price difference is negligible, and there's probably a slight performance benefit, but does CAS4 PC5300 generate more heat than CAS5 PC5300? Am I likely to run into any stability or motherboard issues?
Any opinions from people who have upgraded one of these notebooks?
