Some laptops will flash their battery charging indicator lights with another color. On Dell laptops the battery light will flash amber 4 or 5 times, then green once to indicate a battery failure.

Otherwise what Soulsaver said is a good indication your battery is wearing out.

When it doesn't last as long as you want it to. If you always leave your laptop plugged in and you battery only lasts less than an hour compared to the four hours it lasted when you bought it, why buy a new battery?

It's a pretty easy one to detect whether everything is good to go or not. If you're seeing whether it's just working, take the lappy off AC and if it turns off, then it's done for. Otherwise it's just a matter of time.

But laptop is used while I travel. And sometimes I have no possibility to plug that somewhere in.
Thanks for your replies.
