Screen Resolution Question! - Page 2

I've tried the DPI adjustment, and the problem I had was websites that aren't coded correctly would mess up. Wasn't much of a problem but was annoying.

I have the higher res screen, and the text size was a problem for me. I like the higher resolution for games, because if you go with the higher resolution you can turn down things like anti-aliasing as the graphics look better the higher the res.

I finally figured out that both XP and Vista now have a zoom feature that eliminated the issue for me. If I was at a website where the text was too small, I'd just hold ctrl and zoom in with my scroll wheel on the mouse. This leaves the laptop at it's native 1920 x 1200 resolution, but it shows the troubling text much larger, and it looks fine. When you're done, you can zoom back out... Only problem with this is it doesn't wrap the text, so you end up having to use the slider bar for full width reading...

I did run it at 1440 x 900 for a while to test it using non-native resolution, and though it wasn't bad enough to cause problems, it wasn't as crisp as I wanted.

Excellent post! Very helpful! Thanks! 1900x 1200 sounds great for gaming but perhaps I wouldn't miss what I never had. With all the positive comments I get with my 1440 from the 'average' computer user, I believe I'm already a 'leg up'; so I shouldn't feel too badly.
