Use the firegl drivers. It will see it as a 9600 but the drivers are the same. What Distro are you running. Oh yeah check the linux forum here. There's lots of great minds that are more than willing to help out in there.

Thanks...
Do you get hardware acceleration enabled.... with these drivers.

I am using Debian (Sarge) on my old PC, but would like to setup a dual boot environment on my Sager.... have not started the process yet because I don't have a floppy drive for installing the RAID drivers, the factory install of XP takes up the whole disk, I do not want to re-partition until I am absolutely sure I
can at least recover XP.... do you think I could but the drivers on a CD..

Yeah it gives accel. I think you will need a true floppy. Well USB should work. Check this section out. http://notebookforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5 I'd search in there. I don't have raid on this laptop so I can't realy help much with that.

Linux is for the birds

for a next trick, can someone pull a kernel 2.6.x compatible driver that does acceleration on even a M10 (9600)? DRI stopped working on acceleration when ATI started making their own, and ATI is taking their sweet time with 2.6.x compatibility, and 2.6.5 is a near-requirement for those of us with 4080s and otehr 648FX chipset based machines and a low tolerance for iffy kernel patching.

No windows install media!!!!

OK managed to get hold of a USB floppy drive to install the windows RAID drivers, but have just discovered that the windows disk that I recieved with my Sager 8790 is for Recovery only!!!! and I have no authorization code
Ordered XP home with a factory install.... surely I should get the media....

Anyways I am very tempted to blow away windows completely and just run linux, it's considerably better and more heaps more fun/reliable, (but after paying for windows I feel obliged to run it...)
Still sounds as though may have an issue with the M11 graphics card and 3D hardware acceleration.....

PAPPP:

I'm running my machine with hardware acceleration. The ATI-supplied drivers work just fine with new kernels (and have for quite some time now, actually).

(Edited to add: Use the external agpgart module from the Linux kernel -- you might take a look at the "Gentoo on the 4780" thread for notes on how I originally got it working).
