Asus M6 problem black screen & full fan

Hi all, I have an Asus M6V-S015H and it doesn´t start up.
Today I´ve upgraded the RAM with 2*1GB DDR2-666MHZ.
The laptop started up and I passed memtest to check if the RAM was ok.
Two hours after, i pressed Esc but memtest freezes, I pushed the power botton to reboot the laptop.
Now the laptop start up with black screen, fan full and the HD led turned on.
I´ve dowgraded with the original RAM but the problem continues.
There is a button labeled > o < on the bottom of the notebook for resetting the CMOS. I pushed it but the problem doesn´t fix.
Please people, help me.

Hi all, finally I sent my laptop to RMA Asus and the problem was the audio_MB.
The final cost for me was 106€ (new M6V AUDIO_MB, diagnostics+repair and transp costs).
Thanks for your help.

The audio board was an inherent defect in the M6V/M6Va/Z70V/Z70Va notebooks, so that doesn't surprise me, although I didn't know it could shut down the whole computer like that. I'm glad you got it fixed, though.

Hello,

I have an M6BNe and my problem sounds similar to your (former) problem.

Did this audio defect affect the M6N as well? (B just denotes WXGA screen instead of WXGA+).

If so, how do I go about obtaining the part from Asus? The only thing they have listed on their parts website are screen hinges for the M6N.

Thanks

To answer my own question it indeed *seems* as if they do have the same audio board, and I have found a source for it.

I haven't actually seen the broken laptop yet, but when I get it and if all else fails, I will try to swap the audio board.

The one being offered for sale is the Revision 2.1

I hope it is the fixed PCB.

You can get parts from Asus either via their e-store or by calling them and requesting parts that way.
