I've got a little problem here, hoping someone can help. Just built a new computer, Gigabyte 81PE1000-G motherbard (Intel 865G chipset), Ultra ATA 100 IBM Deskstar 60GB hard disk on primary IDE channel and CD burner on secondary IDE channel. After installing windows XP, SP1, and updates and MB driver set here is the problem. Primary and secondary IDE channels are using "Multi-Word DMA Mode 2". It should be at least DMA 5 for the hard drive. I have the 80 pin 40 contact cables. I slaved in another drive (ATA 66/DMA 4) from my primary machine and it went to this lower mode. I tried reinstalling chipset drivers from Intel with no help. I'm going to re-install windows tonight and see if that helps. Other than replacing the MB what else can I try?
