improving my latops "gaming" ability

Getting frame rates as low as 10 in open areas on half life 2. its vista (dont tell me to go to xp cus i wont) 1.6 ghz dual core penium and 2 gb of RAM, what I want to know is will increasing RAM be able to increase frate rate or will it not really effect it?

any help greatly appreachiated, alex

Your biggest issue is most likely your video card. I'm guessing you've got an integrated video card (something made my Intel), which would be the limiting factor in games. Unfortunately, you can't change your video card. While upgrading your processor may help a little bit, it probably won't make a dramatic difference.

Yeah it is integrated intel graphics! (intel GMA 965) And I know that is a major problem and ive given up with that one! I just wondered if the RAM would be worth it because that is the easiest thing to change on a laptop.

Well, Vista will use as much memory as you have for Superfetch caching, so the more, the better. However, adding memory won't help with gaming unless the game uses more memory than you have. Half-Life 2 doesn't use that much memory, so you won't see any improvements in that by adding memory.
