Asus M50VM touchpad problem

From day one the touchpad just stops working as all the lights on the pad light up and the pad freezes. I can use the keyboard to get to the touchpad in control panel then I just tab through the mouse and click on ok an the pad will work for a while then do it again.

I really need the pad to work. I can connect a mouse an it works just great with no problems.
Any ideas what the problem is?
I have downloaded a current update to the touch pad driver. Still have the problem.

your touchpad may be faulty or there may be a loose connection. I'd talk to Asus about it.

Top right corner there is a mode switch you are hitting it with your finger and changing the touch pad to media control mode. Mine does it all the time bugs the piss out off me.
